Basketball Game
The appearance of olympic basketball
game at the Olympic Games in 1904

The first women's tournament was 1976. The Soviet Union won
against five other teams. The next two tournaments followed the round robin of
six men, with the Soviets in 1980 defending their title and the 1984 USA won
against the South Koreans under the Soviet boycott. In 1988, the tournament
expanded to eight teams, with the Americans beat Yugoslavia in the basketball medal of gold medal game.
In 1992, after
the demise of the USSR, the unified team won against China in the gold medal basketball game. 1996 started the
tournament in its current 12-team format; The United States have won all the
tournaments since winning 40 consecutive games.

• 1924: At the 23rd Session of the IOC, which took
